Matt Johnson is a Crime and Justice Correspondent and Emmy Award–winning journalist. He currently reports for Court TV Network, covering major criminal cases and high-profile trials across the country.

Prior to joining Court TV Network, Johnson was a producer and contributor on documentary projects for Investigation Discovery and Oxygen Network. His in-depth reporting includes on-location coverage of the Delphi murders of Abby Williams and Libby German in Indiana; the Bryan Kohberger case in Idaho; the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie in Arizona; the Karen Read murder trials in Massachusetts; the Lori Vallow Daybell “doomsday cult” case in Idaho and Arizona; the Alex Murdaugh family murders in South Carolina; and the Lindsay Shiver murder case in the Bahamas.

Johnson began his journalism career as an on-the-scene anchor and reporter at local ABC, CBS, and FOX stations in markets including Los Angeles, San Diego, and Portland. Earlier, he worked as an intern at Rolling Stone Magazine in New York City, where his work was published. He is a graduate of California State University, Fullerton, with a degree in journalism.
In addition to his reporting, Johnson hosts the award-winning true crime podcast True Crime Deadline, which focuses on unsolved and cold cases.
